Sensational New Discovery
The clarinetist Dieter Klöcker, who has dedicated his life to the quest of the musical unknown, presents yet another sensational new discovery on this recording with the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. Three wind concertos by the highly individual and talented Antonio Casimir Cartellieri (1772-1807) are now available on CD almost two hundred years after his death.

Under Lock and Key
Virtuosos of the time kept Cartellieri's masterpieces under lock and key. As a result, today his compositions are scattered far and wide and have never been published in a complete edition. Dieter Klöcker, master musical detective that he is, pieced together the evidence during his painstaking research in archives and private collections.

Visionary Individualist
Like all the composers of his times, Cartellieri was haunted by the "giant's footsteps" (Brahms of Beethoven), but he remained his own man and anticipated musical developments of the first half of the nineteenth century (Schubert, Weber, Mendelssohn). Cartellieri was a visionary, and Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart, the standard German musical encyclopedia, did not hesitate to include him in its very first edition.

Second to None
Dieter Klöcker's name is synonymous with clarinet virtuosity, and the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra is second to none worldwide when it comes to bringing the music of its countryman-by-choice Cartellieri to new life. The international music press has written of Klöcker's pioneering efforts on behalf of Cartellieri's music: "Excellently played and recorded" (Fanfare); "The performances of Dieter Klöcker and the Prague Chamber Orchestra are ideal. Mr Klöcker's effortless technique and beautifully centered German clarinet tone, coupled with the amazing homogeneous sound of the orchestra make this a truly spectacular world premiere recording."
