Zuill Bailey’s rare combination of celebrated artistry, technical brilliance and engaging personality have secured his place as one of music’s most sought after cellists. His latest album follows his previous chart-topping work, which featured the Dvorak Cello Concerto. His rendition won Gramophone’s Editor’s Choice Award. On Elgar’s Cello Concerto, Bailey collaborates with Music Director Krzysztof Urbanski, who leads the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. This was the final work completed by the composer before his death and Zuill’s interpretation captures the subtlety and drama of the piece. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra also presents selections from Ma Vlast, Smetana’s patriotic musical ode to Czechoslovakia. It is a collection of six tone poems and featured on this album are "Vysehrad (The High Castle)," "Vltava (The Moldau)" and "Sarka". The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Krzysztof Urbanski harness the feverish energy of Smetana's work and present an incredible recording that no one should miss.
