Die Weise Von Liebe Und Tod des Cornetts Christoph Rilke
is a rare setting of one of the poems by German poet Rainer Maria von Rilke; a musical setting which Rilke himself permitted Danish composer Paul von Klenau to write. The composer wrote the music for a large orchestra, baritone soloist, and chorus and intended for the piece to sound very modern and futuristic. To modern ears, however, it has very strong influences of Late Romanticism.
This world premiere recording features Danish baritone Bo Skovhus.
Reviews"Klenau's work is inventive, superbly scored and very enjoyable (...) Bo Skovhus is the ideal choice of soloist. His mellow vocal quality and ability to express a wide range of different modes and styles of delivery within a short span of time enable him to be a highly effective narrator (...) A first-rate account."
