The myth of Ulysses is one that has been explored for thousands of years by western civilization. Dante made him an important character in his Inferno, and he was revisited in the 1900s by James Joyce. Ulysses is a character that never ceases to fascinate us. Onde Mediterranee, from Velut Luna, is a musical exploration of the character of Ulysses in a different form. Just as Ulysses travelled all over the Mediterranean, so do the musicians on this album, albeit in a musical sense. Renzo Vigagni leads the New Project Jazz Orchestra in improvising and creating music with themes collected from various Mediterranean traditions. Featured on the recording is violinist Stefan Milenkovic, one of the most talented players in the world.
