Reviews
"Roy Harris is widely considered one of America's greatest composers for the orchestra, but much of his chamber music remains even more obscure than his 15 symphonies. Third Angle's new disc features Harris' Quintet (1940), Sonata for Violin and Piano (1945) and the Third String Quartet (1948). I found the violin sonata the most interesting and moving work here. Harris' generally austere symphonic aesthetic is reflected, but there are a few moments of levity, as well as some of his best melodies." - BILL F. FAUCETT, Times Correspondent
