Considered to be one of his most important recordings, The Amazing Bud Powell covers two recording sessions--the first, recorded on August 9, 1949, features Powell performing in quintet with Fats Navarro, Sonny Rollins, Tommy Potter and Roy Haynes, as well as in trio with Potter and Haynes. The second session, recorded on May 1, 1951, Powell played in trio with Curley Russell and Max Roach, as well as solo. The often-discussed and critically-acclaimed composition by Powell, "Un Poco Loco," is one of the highlights of this recording.
