Guitarist/oudist Gordon Grdina fulfills a lifelong fantasy with the release of The Breathing of Statues. The project is a work for string trio and guitar inspired by the music of Bartok, Webern and Berg. Grdina assembles a dream string trio which includes violinist Jesse Zubot, viola-player Eyvind Kang and cellist Peggy Lee. With its formidable tonality, the ensemble brings Grdina’s compositions to another world. The Breathing of Statues opens with the sensational hum of “Selma” and continues through the exhilarating “Wide Open.”

"There is a tangible energy to everything Grdina lays his hand to. It has been some time since a young artist has sounded this impressive on an inaugural exciting new talent." - James Hale, Coda
