The Queen is Dead is the third studio album by The Smiths and was released in 1986. It was produced by Morrissey and Johnny Marr, working with engineer Stephen Street, the same engineer who had worked on 1985's Meat Is Murder. Well-liked by critics and fans alike, The Queen is Dead has sold consistently since its release in 1986, and is considered by many to be one of the best albums of the 1980s.
