Born in São Paulo in 1971, Mônica Salmaso has surfaced as one of the best young voices among the new talents of Brazil. She has recorded and performed with important Brazilian artists like Paulo Bellinati, Edu Lobo, Marlui Miranda, Guinga and the Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica de São Paulo amongst others.

On Trampolim, her first solo CD, Mônica explores the different characteristics of Brazilian culture with folkloric celebrations, religious processionals, singing the lyrical soul of Brazil in a contemporary interpretation.

The repertoire represents new composers as well as seasoned ones: José Miguel Wisnik, Lenine, Guinga, Chico Buarque and Dorival Caymmi, and public domain: folkloric reisado themes and a working song of slaves from the state of Minas Gerais.
